President's Message:

As we enter the holiday season, I want to extend warm wishes to you and your families. December is a time for reflection, rest, and connection, and I hope each of you finds moments of peace and joy with the people who matter most. Your dedication to our students and to one another continues to inspire, and I am deeply grateful for all you do, especially during this demanding time of year.

In recent weeks, SHEA Leadership has met with the Board of Education’s Leadership Subcommittee as part of the ongoing effort to address the concerns that led to last spring’s vote of no confidence. While these conversations have been professional and constructive, we must be candid—there has been minimal positive impact on the larger issues facing our district. The challenges that prompted collective action remain significant and unresolved.

That said, the Board’s offer to increase accessibility and open regular lines of dialogue represents an unprecedented invitation, one the Association gladly accepts. This level of access has not been extended to us in the past, and we view it as an opportunity to advocate more directly and more consistently on behalf of our members and our profession.

Still, we must be clear: there is substantial work ahead before any measure of restored confidence in District Leadership can be considered. Meaningful change must be demonstrated, not simply discussed. Our commitment to you—and to the integrity of our schools—remains resolute.

As the year draws to a close, please take care of yourselves and enjoy time with your loved ones. We look forward to continuing this important work together in the new year.

In solidarity,

Paul Szymendera
