SHEA's Message:

We hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break and is ready for another great school year. It has been wonderful to see the positive energy and strong start across all of our schools. From welcoming students back into our classrooms to building relationships, establishing routines, and creating engaging learning environments, our teachers have once again demonstrated the dedication and commitment that make Sweet Home such a special place. APPR Update: Transition to STEPS

As we prepare for the transition from APPR 3012-d to the new STEPS evaluation system next school year, SHEA and the District have reached a one-year agreement modifying the observation schedule for the 2026–2027 school year.

Here are the key points:

• Tenured teachers: Two unannounced observations for the 2026–2027 school year.

• Non-tenured teachers: No changes to the existing observation schedule.

• Clinical observations: Teachers previously scheduled for a full-period clinical observation with pre- and post-conferences will instead receive an unannounced observation, following applicable procedures.

• Evaluators: Qualified District evaluators may conduct observations, even if they are not administrators in the teacher's assigned building.

This agreement is specific to the 2026–2027 school year. SHEA hopes to work with the District toward developing a more comprehensive evaluation plan as part of our next negotiated contract.

Please stay tuned for updated building observation lists, as a small number of teachers may see changes to their originally assigned schedules.
